But Yet Again or but Again
Tricky points of English ...
The words however still e'er already and over again in English
Distinguishing between withal and always and yet and again and already
However andwithal, again and already and evene'er, not to mention no longer or no more than, are words which ofttimes cause trouble for students of English. So let'south try and distinguish clearly between them.
The problem arises considering other languages do not take the same choice of words, and one word may encompass different meanings; French encore, Castilian todavía and German noch , for instance, can be either "yet" or "even so", and encore and noch tin can too hateful "over again", and sometimes even "ever" or "already" in English. Dictionaries don't ever clearly distinguish between the unlike uses.
► one. STILL (no longer and e'er)
1a. Even so
Nevertheless implies a standing action, and is generally used in affirmative sentences; for example:
A1 The computer is even so analysing the data.
A2 They were nonetheless talking at midnight.
The action is continuous, and the verb tense with still in this sense is unremarkably a progressive form, except with be, have and verbs of primary perception, as in
A3 I still accept that picture you gave me.
A4 I can still run into him.
or when referring to habitual action:
A5 She all the same shops at Sainsbury'southward.
1b. No longer:
No longer is the equivalent of still in negative contexts. However is not oft constitute in negative sentences, but is usually replaced by no longer (or not ... any more) . Note: "no more" should non be used.
The negative versions of examples A1 - A3 could exist:
B1 The computer is not analysing the data whatever more
B2 They were no longer talking at midnight.
B21: but not:They were no more talking at midnight.
B3 I no longer accept that picture y'all gave me.
Important: When still is used with not, the position of yet earlier or later the "non" is vital for determining the significant of the sentence!! If still comes before the verb, this does non mean that an action has stopped, merely that information technology has not nevertheless begun. For example:
B 31 I still exercise not have the picture means that
I am waiting to receive it, I have not yet received information technology.
Nonetheless
B 32 I exercise non still have the picture ways the same as
I no longer have the picture but I had it earlier.

D4 Can you lot however see anything?
(Question meaning: "It was visible; but is it visible now?")
D5 Take yous yet had any rain ?
(Open question implying "Possibly you lot accept, maybe you have not".)
